Which Procedure Works for Me?

A large number of technological advancements have occurred over the last decade, resulting in more procedure methods for patients interested in laser eye surgery.

The 2 most common laser eye surgery procedures in Canada are:

Your opthalmologist creates a small flap in the cornea and then uses a computer-programmed laser to correct refractive errors.

  • PRK (photorefractive keratectomy): Similar to LASIK, PRK employs a computer-programmed laser to alter the cornea’s shape, but with different procedures.

Your ophthalmologist removes and discards the cornea’s outer layer with a laser, blade, brush, or alcohol solution during the surgery.

Once the outer layer has been removed, the desired prescription is achieved by precisely removing tissue from the cornea.

Post-surgery, the patient wears a bandage contact lens for several days as part of the healing process.

Post-Surgery Follow-Ups

After your procedure, you’ll visit one of our optometrists for a series of follow-up appointments. We want to check in on your recovery, address any side effects, and make sure your eyes are healing properly.
