At a contact lens exam, our optometrists perform a contact lens-specific eye exam, assess your eye health, and ask questions about your lifestyle to determine what type of lens will work for your vision.
We’ll take a few measurements of your eyes to customize the fit of your new contact lenses. Contact lenses come in various prescriptions, and they will be different from your eyeglass prescription. Your contact lens prescription must accommodate where the lens rests on your eye.
Once we have the information we need, your contact lenses will be ordered, and we’ll call you back when they’re ready.
When you come to pick up your contact lenses, we’ll assess the fit and make sure they’re comfortable. During your fitting, we’ll teach you how to care for your new lenses. Depending on whether you’ve chosen daily disposable or rigid gas-permeable lenses, you may need to clean them each night in a contact lens solution.
It’s important to always insert contact lenses with clean hands and avoid using tap water to clean your lenses.It may take time to adjust to your new lenses, and that’s a-okay! Glencoe Optometrists will follow up with you regularly to make sure the transition goes smoothly. Trust us, you’ll see!
